Integral Mission Initiative

We believe that God is at work all over the world drawing people back to His integral mission. This is something that God is doing and we believe that he has asked us to follow Him in this work.  This movement is made of countless stories, experiences, and people, like small streams of living water, but together we believe that they form a mighty river:

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells - Psalm 46:4

The Micah Network’s Integral Mission Initiative (or IMI) has been established to help to connect and support those streams around the world – those who share this passion for God’s integral mission - and to enable more people and more churches to benefit from the life they bring.

What does the Integral Mission Initiative do?

Mainly we do two things:

  1. We are finding, mapping and bringing together the best materials, thinking, training and experience in Integral Mission from across the Micah Network (and beyond). This knowledge needs to be coherent and accessible and will be made available mainly (but not only) through the Micah Network websites in various languages.  You’ll find the results of our work in the Resource Library, which we hope will constantly be growing.
  2. We are working alongside Micah Network members in their national contexts as they work to equip, support and challenge churches in their country to understand and embrace Integral Mission.  We are doing this predominantly by working through National Taskforces who have a vision for igniting the local church for Integral Mission.

In the first year of the initiative we have begun working with national groups in Latin America, Africa, Asia and Europe.  The IMI has helped to faciliate national conversations about integral mission (and how to encourage it) in a number of countries, to encourage organisations to work together to serve the churches in their country.   The countries where we have started work have all been identified or supported through Micah Network’s Regional Co-ordinating Groups.

Who works on the initiative?

We hope that Micah Network members will become actively involved in this initiative as it develops.

Micah Network staff are serving the members in this initiative through coordination, facilitation and communication. The core project team consists of the Regional Coordinators (currently Ruth Alvarado, John Wesley Kabango and Sundar Daniel) who facilitate the initiative in their regions, and a small international team consisting of David Westlake and Jenny Grove, based in London, Jane Furniss in Sydney and Anne Liew in Malaysia.

How do I connect to the initiative?

We need to hear from you!  We want to know about great Integral Mission resources that you have used or developed, so we can tell others about them.  We want to know what materials are most needed so we can help find or develop them.  Please contact us through the email addresses below.

Quarterly updates will be available through the Micah Network e-newsletter.

If you are interested in being part of a national task force in your country, or you know of a group or network already actively promoting integral mission in your country, please let us know.  We have plenty to learn from others and would love to continue expanding our connections and relationships.
